June 9 -11, 2021

Picture
University of Minho
Braga, Portugal
(Online only)

This year the Braga Meetings will have as a general topic the “Contemporary Challenges to Citizenship and Democracy” but, as always, we welcome proposals in any area of moral, political, or legal philosophy and in normative political theory. Moreover, we accept submissions for a Special Session on John Rawls’ life and work.

This year, exceptionally and due to the pandemic, the Braga Meetings will be held on an online-only format.

This event is organized by the CENTRE FOR ETHICS, POLITICS AND SOCIETY (CEPS), University of Minho (Braga).
The Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy have established a reputation for providing scholars with an excellent opportunity to present both advanced and exploratory work to a welcoming audience. Graduate students, junior researchers and senior scholars are welcome to submit their work.

This year the Braga Meetings will have as a general topic the “Contemporary Challenges to Citizenship and Democracy” but, as always, we welcome proposals in any area of moral, political, or legal philosophy and in normative political theory.

SPECIAL SESSION

Celebrating John Rawls: 100 years since his birth; 50 years after the publication of A Theory of Justice

This year the Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy include a special session in honour of John Rawls, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth and of the 50th anniversary of the publication of his major work, A Theory of Justice. This special session comprises panel presentations and  plenary talks.
For the special session we welcome high quality presentations dealing with aspects of Rawls’ life and work. Presentations dealing mainly with secondary literature on Rawls and his ideas are also welcome and they will be accommodated as much as possible, depending on the number of slots that will be made available by the general organization of the Meeting.
For submissions please use the form provided in this site and state clearly in your abstract that you wish to present in the special session (rather than in the general sessions).
